She is 2.1yo and slept reasonably well last night, waking once and insisting on a nappy change.

She woke up at 6:45 with a runny poo but seemed fine.

She told me she was tired at 8am and by the time we got to toddler group at 10:30 she was very tearful so we went home.

She went straight to bed (unusually early) and I had to sit with her until she went to sleep (unusual).

She woke up after an hour, had milk and has been hysterically crying on and off ever since, still very tired and not wanting lunch. She normally has a massive appetite.

She is currently watching cbeebies on the sofa crying at a plate of cheese on toast. She won't eat it and won't let me take it off her. The same thing with a cup of water.

What the heck do I do with her??

Hello ellesabe

I am not sure I have great advice, but at the very least I can bump this for you :-) I feel for you, it's so difficult when they are poorly and whiny and can't really explain what exactly is wrong with them. One thing I would probably do is check her temperature? and if she's got one, maybe give her some calpol? sorry if this is just stating the bleedin obvious

Hope she gets better soon x

Best thing to do is keep her inside and make sure she has plenty to drink. She's clearly unwell and is possibly coming down with something (it's chicken pox season so watch out for blisters). Please don't take her out if she's had a runny poo or has been vomiting, you'll spread it around if you do. Don't worry about food, it's more important that she drinks at the moment. Keep an eye on her temperature, if it goes above 37.5 and she's very unhappy then give her a spoon of calpol (check the dose on the bottle). If in doubt or you're worried then NHS direct is helpful and far more qualified than Mumsnet. May be best to pop her to the GP if this lasts more than a few days.

I hope she's on the mend quickly.

Thank you.

She had two naps today for the first time in over a year Shock and seemed to perk up a bit after the second of these. She still hasn't eaten much but is currently having a bottle of milk and I'm pretty sure she's still tired enough to go straight to sleep this evening.

I just felt so sorry for her earlier. And guilty that she couldn't have my undivided attention as I was also juggling a hungry/tired 10wo dd2!

We'll see what tomorrow shall bring...

Keep an eye on her. Check for a temperature and don't worry too much about her eating. Drinks are good. She may have a sore throat so wouldn't want to eat??
