DS is 14 months. He says dada, 'ello, Ellie (thats dd; sounds just like hello but we think he means his sister) and yes (although not usually at any useful time, usually an exclamation of joy - esss!). Very very rarely when he is very cross, he says mum-mum-mum (accompanied by huge fat lip). Dd didn't say mamma for ages either. She learnt to say my name first and didn't say mamma till she was about 2!

This evening ds said "car" a few times while waving some toy cars found at a friend's house. It is quite possible he says other words, because I didn't notice the "car", I just heard him babbling till my friend pointed it out!

I was desperate for dd to start talking. Now, she never stops. So I'm enjoying the relative silence from ds. He can take as long as he likes. And I am in no hurry at all for him to learn the word "why".

dd 1 8 months; dada, mamma and mummum for breast milk. At 12 months; cake, dat, dis, yea, 'es (for yes). 14 months gazie for grazie, ca for cat, quack quack for birds and dogs and 'there it is' while pointing (in response to the question 'where is the ball?). No idea what normal/average age is. Don't think it matters. Think happy integrated children are the best thing working towards that with dd getting her to socialise with lots of different children of various ages.

I was impress by my nearly 10 months DD over the week end. I am French, DH is english. She spend most of her time with English Speaking people but on Saturday, she looked at DH and said PAPA (daddy in French!!!)... I was very jealous but couldn't beleive that she picked up French before English (so not so jealous!!!)Wink
