Reusing baby equipment after 4.5 years

We have just started getting out DS's baby stuff which was stored away for reusing. His Maclaren XT and highchair are horribly mouldy and will need to be chucked Sad. That's mostly because when we moved house DH just bunged them in the shed without any covers but it was only 3 months ago! DH did think he could rescue the highchair Hmm but even he has had to admit defeat. The rest looks ok, dry and dust free, clothes etc were stored in the house so are fine. The baby bath is grubby but he's going to clean it.

I was just wondering about whether other people keep everything for that length of time or if they would replace with new equipment?

I think you use your common sense. DMIL brought down 30 year old stuff from the loft when we had DS. A plastic potty and baby bath can be wiped clean and used, as could some of the fisher price toys. Fabric things, as you say, if they are damp and moudly should be binned (and replaced from somewhere like Asda that does highchairs for £25).

I would use it all again, just new mattresses in cots and such.
I only have the one dd (4), but her cot, basket and bags of clothes were given to me by a friend and now my cousin has them (apart from some of the clothes) along with my old travel system and highchair for her wee one.
if it's in good condition, safe and clean then of course use it again.

9 years on, all of my baby stuff is immaculate so i have not had to buy anything other than the odd bits & bats.
(Meant to sell it/throw it out as we didnt think we would have another, so glad we didnt now as it has saved us alot of money)

I stored it all well, and have washed it all (in fairy...smells LUSH) and its all like new.
I have no issue with re using it all.

We had 4.4yrs between dc and I reused everything. But tbh I didn't have much "equipment". No pram or highchair for example. We had a bumbo, clothes, toys, slings etc.

We did buy a highchair this time round (£15 ikea antilop) but otherwise poor ds has had bog all spent on him, including having to wear his big sister's clothes.

There's 4 years between my DDs & I reused everything I could. I've barely spent a thing on clothes for poor DD2, as she has so much stuff from DD1 (& a lot of that was originally handed down from an older cousin too).

We reused buggy, car seat & high chair too.

Only thing I got brand new were bottles.... and DD2 never used the bloody things in the end anyway stubborn madam prefers the boob

Thanks for replies, it's actually been nice not to worry about buying a lot of big things! Ive discovered that there's a lot of stuff missing as we lent it to relatives and they claim to have given it back but it can't be found (including maxi cosi and other expensive items) which will have to be replaced now

DS plays with my old fisher price play family toys, they are 30 years old!!!

I reused loads of stuff that my mum gave me that she bought for nieces and nephew - the oldest stuff was of nephew's (now 6) including pram/travel system with car seat. I just gave it a good scrub and it looked good as new -hadn't got much wear before tbh as ridiculous SIL who insisted my parents buy it for her barely used it. Also toys, highchair, a few clothes that they'd bought for gc's and kept at their house. Saved us loads and we hadn't long moved house so were glad of the stuff. Would have been grateful for more but the SIL who lives down the rd and has three girls didn't think to pass anything on to our DD tight cow! I have meticulously boxed up and labelled everything to reuse myself or pass on.
