Tips to make cot more cosy/jolly

DD (2.5 months) has recently started sleeping in her cot. She looks so tiny and it's very minimal because of all the safety stuff I've read: just tiny old her in a sleeping bag near the foot. Do you have any tips to make it more cosy? Someone said something about cot bumpers but I don't know what they are. Can I put teddies in the cot? What kind of mobile could I get. Thanks!

Don't put anything in it (apart from your baby). They don't need anything to distract them from sleeping. It might look odd to you, but trust me, your baby doesn't care. The more stuff you put in the more distracted they can become, or the more reliant on a sleep prop that if you then don't have sleep won't be forthcoming.

Ok! It does look a bit weird to me but if you're sure the baby won't notice then I will keep it bare. Not even cot bumpers? Had DM on phone asking if I had got them this morning etc.

Don't put anything in it apart from the baby. Your baby doesn't need stimulation at sleeptime and bumpers, teddies etc are a suffocation risk.

Don't get traditional tie on cot bumpers they are a safety risk, you can get breathable ones called air wrap but you won't be needing them for a while, you only need them once the baby is big enough to be rolling around and bashing themselves off the bars. You could always get a cot mobile, I had one, didn't use it at bedtime but it was handy at a couple of months old to grab DD's attention for a few minutes if I wanted a quick shower or something. Never really bothered with teddies in the cot until recently (DD is 2 now and has started asking to take specific teddies to bed with her at night).

Don't put anything in the cot, too dangerous.

As everyone else has said - don't put anything in the cot. We put airwraps on once DD was mobile as she tends to fling herself about in her sleep, but that's it. Traditional bumpers are potentially dangerous, as is anything else placed in the cot.

Even the lullaby lightshow was stood on a unit near the cot rather than fastened to it.

As for your DD looking tiny - don't worry, that won't last long Grin.
