Late pregnancy, toddler and full time work - your tips please!

I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant and I have dd 19 months. I work full time, but long shifts on 4 days a week as this fits in better with our childcare arrangements. Dd is great, but often still wakes at night as she has some ongoing problems with constipation that make her uncomfortable (we have regular contact with the doctor over this and are trying to get it sorted).

I've been coping quite well so far but this week I feel like I've hit a wall with tiredness. I can manage to keep going when I'm working (i'm a nurse on a busy ward so there isn't time to think about how knackered I am) but on the 3 days I have dd I'm really struggling. I've had cbeebies on far more than I would like, haven't been making it out to our usual toddler groups etc. We get out a couple of times a day to walk the dog but that feels like all I can manage.

How does everyone else cope with this stage? Dp is doing as much as he can to help but he's working opposite shifts to me most of the time so isn't here. He's doing most of the night waking, but this worries me as he also has a chronic health condition which tends to flare up when he's tired.

So, any suggestions for keeping dd busy when I'm knackered? Or just for generally getting through the day?

I'm watching this thread with interest as I am just 5 weeks pregnant with my second, I have a toddler (2 yrs) and work full time - though am not a shift worker.

I pay my mum to look after my son so am not worried that my son isnt getting out and about but I am worried about how tired Im gong to be which will effectively wipe me out at the weekends. My commute to work is also 1.5 hours each way.

I think the getting out with the dog is really good and that is giving your daughter time away for Tv so I wouldnt feel bad if I were you - you are doing your very best.

At least when your baby arrives soon (we hope) the weather will turn and you will be able to get out to the park for lovely sunny afternoons - giving both children fresh air etc.

chin up you are doing great and are nearly there!
