Newbie alert!

She is fine at sleeping downstairs in the day, only takes a couple of minutes to get to sleep being rocked in her pram. But for some reason goes crazy in the evening.

She is in a good mood for her bath, but the minute she gets clothed afterwards she kicks off until she is asleep. every night is a struggle in the bedroom to read her book, feed her, then get her down. I reckon after feeding her she takes about 30 mins to rock to sleep... during most of this she is having a really hard time.

When she is down in her cot though, she is down!

Please help

Is it possible that she's overtired? Have you thought about starting your bedtime routine earlier? DS also hates been dressed after his bath. The only way to keep him calm is to sing to him. At least its made me extend my repertoire of songs!

Just another thought, is she hungry? Could you offer half her feed before her bath? Ignore me if you already do this...

Wow 30 mins! It takes me around 2 hours.

Sorry it doesn't help. I didn't mean to come out all mean. Just tired.
I am finding that making sure my LO has naps during the day, having a dark room, and some fresh air each day helps.

Wishing you luck.

Dont worry evil, i know how tired feels now!

She has a nap about 5 for half hour ill try cutting that out. Just worried she would be overtired then

Willow it looks like the singing helped! or maybe it was the 15 mins bouncing up and down in her jumperoo. Teaching bad habits there though i guess...

I would say she is overtired.

DS1 did the same as we didn't really have a clue what we were doing. DS2 has never done this as we strive to get him to sleep by 7pm.

I would say a 5pm nap is too late.

WillowB · 03/01/2013 20:48

5pm nap is prob fine, just depends what time she gives to bed. If it were me then I would prob aim to start bedtime routine at 6.15ish so she's in bed for 7. good luck!

*goes

flippyflaps · 03/01/2013 20:51

She sleeps about 4 to 5 hours in the day after getting up at 630am, then the 5pm nap. Is that enough?

She only wakes once in the night though for 30 to 45 mins, so swing and roundabouts i guess

We can pull the evening routine forward half hour then and start it at 530. Gonna try tomorrow
