what do you DO with a 6 / 7 month old... not sleep related!

Just that really.

Ds sleeps really well (thank goodness) so nothing to sort out there.

He's my second child and I can't remember much of dd being a baby .... big age gap!

The main problem I have is keeping him entertained. He has a play mat that is getting a bit boring for him now, I change the toys around. I sit and show him toys with him on my lap. I sing to him sometimes (poor ds).

I do let him watch a bit of cbeebies if I am desperate for idea's so I can do something for 5 minutes. Bad mummy.

We go out around town and I took him to see some ducks yesterday. He wasn't impressed.

Ermmm. He just seems constantly bored to be honest. Well after two minutes of doing anything.

Just wanted some ideas and to know what others are doing.

He also has a jumperoo thing but he's a very large baby and got stuck in it so that's no good!

What about joining some groups it will be fresh for you both

PrincessMononoke · 29/12/2012 13:43

Yes I would join a baby group, change of scenery, new toys for him adult company for you.
I used to give my dc wooden spoons, old jar lids, pasta or rice in an old bottle anything really that they could feel and chew or rattle. I did find it hard to keep them and me amused going out to playgroups kept me sane.

I go to classes mainly with my 7mo dd. outdoor mums exercise class (for me not her but she gets a change if scenery), baby swimming, baby sensory and meet up with others with babies NCT group etc (then they get to play with some new toys!). Sing and play action rhymes like head, shoulders, this little piggy etc. I also sometimes play with her in the living room and sometimes in her bedroom so I guess that's a change if scenery too!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a bit nervous about going to groups.... I'm quite an introvert! Maybe I can find one where I'm going to be doing something rather than simply sitting about chatting etc. Hmm.

You don't have to do much talking to other mums at baby sensory or baby swimming if that helps.

I dont know what your library is like but mine had a big comfy armchair and i was comfortable breast feeding there too. I take my baby (now 1) there all the time and have done from an early age, It gets him used to books. We have a look through afew, plus other kids come in and he like them. Other than that (weather permitting) the park. My son loves the swings.

We read books, play peek a boo, build a tent, sit in a paddling pool with the soft balls, sing songs with actions, commentate on our day, play gym, jumperoo, Leapfrog sing and learn activity station, go walks, go to rhymetime, get naked and kick his legs, swimming etc
