Our telly is on all the time when we r home. My DS 15 months get hypnotised by cbbc. From one side he learnt something from there, but from another I feel like I donot spend a quality time with him. Every evening I say to myself no telly tomorrow but ....... I just start cleaning, cooking ..... And time flyes so fast. Anybody out there has a same problem?

No, it's hard though when you get in a routine of doing it. Can you put music on instead ive got nursery rhyme music that i play in the mornings. and get dancing to Xmas music. Maybe say to yourself right ill clean the kitchen to 9.30 and then whatever it looks like I'll stop and go play with him for 20 mins then do a bit more house work . Could that help?

Can you get him involved with the housework while you do it? Put the radio on/music instead of TV.

You have my sympathy, DD's viewing has increased recently as I'm heavily pregnant and living with the in laws so trying to keep her quiet at times.

I'm now trying to put rules in place similar to sweetie pie - i.e. no TV before a certain and then use a DVD so it has a cut off point.

You may have to go cold turkey on the cleaning though and limit yourself to a certain number of jobs each day and make yourself do something with DS so it become part of your routine and habit IYSWIM.

DD is coming up 2 1/2 and we now have demands for TV so I'd recommend addressing it whilst he's still little!

We have a nursery rhymes DVD in the morning, while I get DS (22 months) ready for the childminder. I am determined not to put the tv on before breakfast, although it's hard to get it ready with him in the kitchen, and he also watches Peppa Pig for half an hour at 6pm. However, it all went out of the window this week-end, he watched far to much as we were in, I was unwell so I needed a bit of peace and quiet to lie and groan on the sofa

Very hard to limit it when you are in a routine of having it on, the only thing I can suggest is sticking to a routine of having it on between certain times (except for days when you or him are not 100%), and also give a warning before you switch it off (I tell DS that the children on TV or Peppa are going to bed and he waves bye bye to them).

Cut the plug off the tv. Grin
