Hello, I have a beautiful boy who is just coming up to 6 months old and have today discovered I'm pregnant with number 2. Unplanned, but we weren't being particularly careful. I am absolutely thrilled and terrified in equal measures. How do you manage practically/financially/physically with such a small gap? Advice please, wise Mumsnetters!

Congratulations OP!! I have same age gap between my dds, dd2 was unplanned and I reMemeber clearly dd1 had just learned to sit up when I discovered I was pregnant. You will manage - there are hard times in first year but I can't imagine it any other way. Dd1 now 2.10 and dd2 is 19 months and they are such sweet playmates and love each other so much. Pm me if you want to chat further

Congrats. Grin
My ds1 was seven months when I fell with ds2. It's easier than you think. You can't see ahead to the changes in your first child yet. Ds1 Is a loving big brother. I had a csec and ds1 adapted quickly to my restrictions. Obviously it'll be hard at times but they will be so close which is lovely. Ditto -feel free to pm.

Hi Lizzy, congratulations!
I found out I was expecting DD2 when DD1 was 7 months, I was so happy & so scared at the same time. She was also unplanned but not entirely prevented, I though breastfeeding would rule out any mishaps - not so! My DD's are now 6 and nearly 5, they are best friends, and have been joined by DD3 who is 15 months.
I found the first few months rather easy as we had no out of home commitments like school or work as Im a SAHM. So when the girls were asleep I would grab a nap and just work around their wake time. DD2 was so chilled out (not like DD1 when she was newborn) and DD1 was fascinated by her little sister. We bought DD1 a baby dolly so she could feed her dolly when DD2 was being fed, and change dollys nappy etc. Didn't count on the fact she would copy everything I did with DD2, was hilaroius watching my sweet 16 month old breastfeeding her dolly! Xmas Grin
You will cope, and a few years later you will look back on that period of your life and think 'how the hell did I do that?'
As DD3 is approaching the age DD1 was when DD2 was born I cant help but think I was a flipping hero or crazy to have two babies so close together, but I wouldn't change it for the world. My girls are my everything. And I know people with a smaller age gap... Im not so crazy after all Xmas Wink
Wishing you a happy pregnancy - the extra cute days are not too far away x

BTW if your next baby is the same sex as DC1 - you will save a fortune on clothes/toys/bedding etc. We are still re-using everything from our first two for DD3. Only bought her two new Xmas presents this year as the loft is providing most of her 'new' toys Xmas Smile
