good general 'Facts of Life' book for primary age

Has anyone got any recommendations? DS1 is 8 and I would like to buy him a good facts of life book so that he can refer to it over the next few years. A quick look on amazon suggests quite a lot of them are gender segregated at this age - but I was hoping for one that has stuff about girls as well as boys?
Thanks. :)

"Mummy laid an egg" by Babette Cole. light hearted but gets the message over. check out the reviews on amazon

We have 'Mummy Laid and Egg' but it's quite babyish, I was thinking more of something that explains adolescence, periods, body hair, that sort of thing.

The Claire Raynor one looks ok but it's v expensive as it's out of print.

I bought this for ds1 when he was 9. It is aimed at boys but has a short section about girls in it, too. He read it cover to cover when he first got it. Very informative & covers puberty in great detail - you might want to have a look through it in a bookshop first to see if it's appropriate for your ds! (My ds1 wouldn't have been ready for it at 8 but at 9.5 was asking 1000s of questions). I think it's excellent.

harrietspy - that looks even better, and good to have a bit about girls too. I'm still amazed at what my 43 year old husband doesn't know about periods etc!

Made with love is a fantastic book for primary age
www.amazon.co.uk/Made-Love-How-Babies-are/dp/0333741862/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1355248409&sr=1-2

Both my four year old and seven year old love it. There are different sections on each page to suit age of child too.
