Tips for leaving house on time with kids??

We are always late for everything and I am always stressed leaving the house. We have a toddler and 6 month old baby. I am sick of putting my make-up on in the car at traffic lights and us all leaving the house with me stressed. So how do you get out on time and with sanity and dignity intact?

Have everything you possibly can, ready by the front door before you go to bed at night. Lunches, bags, keys, shoes and coats, etc.

Boxes of cereal and bowls with spoons in on kitchen counter.

I'm not a morning person at all but cannot bear lateness so I do as much as I can the night before.

Put your make up on when you have parked up at your destination when you are kiddie free?

Outfits hanging on bedroom doors saves time too - right down to underwear. Jewellery and watch too if you need them. I do this for me and DS, saves so much faffing when you get up.

I have a cupboard in the kitchen by the back door ( which we use) with nappies, wipes scarfs, gloves bags and all the other crap you need.
Pack the nappy bag the night before
Lay outfits out ready
Know what you doing for breakfast and have it ready.
Have the pram already in the boot if possible
Make the bottles the night before (yes you can they just say you can't!)
Have shoes and coats ready by the door
I have a 2 yr old and 11 month old so i know how you feel! It does get easier when the baby gets to about 8 months, honest

preparation and timings.
If say, you have to leave the house at 8am, try to be always ready by 7.50am. If you are, good. If not, you have the 10 minutes for any last minute things that can and probably do go wrong, such as lost items, last minute visits to loo etc.

Accept that it take 20 minutes from saying "that's it it is time to go" to actually stepping out the door - so work backwards from that time!

I always get everything ready the night before for a morning outing, or in the morning for an afternoon outing.

I also aim to be ready half an hour before we need to leave - which usually means I only leave 3 minutes late rather than 33 minutes late Xmas Grin.

Start earlier.

Do what I do and leave the house before anyone's awake? Xmas Wink

Figure at least 30 minutes more than you think you need.
