Big sister still in nighttime nappies, little sister dry!

How can I handle this? DD1 (5.4) is still in nappies at night - she was dry last summer but it went to pot when she started school in September. So after several nights when she wet the bed and didn't even wake up, I put her back into pullups (which are soaked in the mornings). I'm fine with this decision, and so is she, we've agreed we'll try again in the summer.

However, dd2 (2.10) has just decided to potty train, she's so good at it that her nappies are dry in the morning. If it wasn't for dd1 I'd take her out of nappies now as I'm sure she'd be OK.

What shall I do? I know that really I should treat them as the individuals that they are, and take dd2 out of nappies but it will upset dd1 so much Sad

I had similar siyuatin, but dd1 had never been dry at night.I did have dd2 out of nappies completely before dd1. It seems unfair to "make" dd2 wait. I'd definitely go for it and just do lots of reassurance and love for dd1

dd (7) still has night time accidents (3 or 4 a week) ds(4) is dry majority of the time. and my washing machine is knackered!! I would try your dd2. You never know, it might encourage your dd1!! My dd is not at all bothered about her brothers achievements!!

I say to treat them as individuals. Hopefully dd1 will either not notice (remember, kiddies don't think about things the way we do in that they don't have the expectations or knowledge we have) or she won't mind if she does. I had 15 months between my two and because dd was ready to start at about the same time as ds was almost dry, they did it together.
