HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN THE RIGHT TIME FOR POTTY TRAINING IS??

My sister was potty trained at 9 months. My dd is 15 months and I'm confused as to when I should be starting to encourage her to use a potty.

If now is the right time, what do I do to start????!!!!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

IIRC most advice these days says not until they are 2ish. Wait until they show an interest in using the loo or not wearing nappies.

Ds is 2 3/4 and still not potty-trained - thought we were going for it a month or so ago, he was really keen, but took against it for some reason I don't understand and started demanding nappies. Am going to wait until he brings it up again - you can't force them so what's the point of trying to hurry it?

9 months is very young - I assume she must have been walking?

I think children who are ready for toilet training before 18 months are probably quite few and far between. Personally I don't even think about it until the child's 2nd birthday, but that's just me.

signs of being ready are:

walking well
able to pull trousers up/down
able to undress, take nappy off
enough receptive language to follow simple instructions
appears to have an idea when they are urinating/pooing

Thanks!!!

Definately not my little bundle of joy then!!!

My dd's still very much a baby-certainly isn't capable of those things-phew!!! One less thing to worry about!!!!!!!!!
