Our baby was born on Tuesday! We are having a wonderful time enjoying our new family and I am looking forward to sharing our delicious baby with friends and family. Everything is going really well. When my dh goes back to work I would like to invite people over but am scared that our wee boy needs fed when they are here as I don't know how I am going to feed with any kind of discretion. My boobs are huge, biggest Bravissimo size, and I am embarrassed in front of people. Any ideas?

I wore big baggy jumpers for the first couple of months until I got confident. I found that they could cover most of it even when DS1 was feeding.

Congratulations on your baby Xmas Smile

Baggy jumpers and then when I was feeling braver voluminous scarves.

Dd probably spent the best part of her first year in a haze of leopard/bird/owl print chiffon Wink

Oh, and muslins are your friend!

Well, they were mine, but that's also because both of my DSs were terrible pukers!

Always wear vests then take them out above the vest and pull top over boobs and baby, this tip saved my life

If you are at home, keep a pashmina, blanket or scarf on the back of the chair to cover yourself.

I agree with the vest. H&M do some nice stretchy Lycra ones and Primark. They have adjustable straps, so you could make them long to pull the vest down discreetly.

Ring slings work too

Those apron cover things? £6 on eBay, don't bother with the posh ones Boots are flogging! Sometimes though there is a risk that the more discrete you try to be, the more you end up flashing Blush

Get thee a bebe au lait www.bebeaulait.com/products/bebe-au-lait-nursing-covers (also think John Lewis stock)

orangebubbles · 01/12/2012 23:30

Ok so I'm guessing this is the posh version of the thing you can get on eBay!!! Either way, I found it invaluable.

Practice lots and the knack of being discreet does get easier.

Once you've pulled your vest down, got your boob ready, pull your baggy top up enough for the baby to see/sense/start to root, then once s/he is on, pull down the baggy top to cover top of boob so the baby's head will obscure your nipple etc, then when s/he pulls off, pull your top down to cover your boob. Then you can put your baby wherever after feeding and put your boob away properly under your baggy top.

I used feeding covers etc but they just stressed me out and I couldn't see my baby properly to get him latched on as he fussed.

Mot visitors do tend to look away whilst you get the baby on usually.

Best of luck!

I have huge boobs too and did the vest under tips thing. Unhitch bra cup, pull vest down under boob and pull top up. Baby's head hides the small amount that is uncovered.
