He is 12mo ... he loves his teddy bear and has started asking for it when he gets put down for his naps and at bed time. The last 2 days I've been giving it to him, but taking it away when I go to bed.

Is it OK now ... I can't remember what I did with dd.

its fine, ds2 has slept witha bunny since he was 5 months old, one thing i would do tho seeing as he is getting attached to it, is try and get another the same so that one can be washed/washing while he still has one to snuggle with

I wouldn't have thought it's a problem. They say baies can have pillows from 12 mos, and a baby id less likely to be smothered by a teddy

BUY A SPARE TEDDY NOW NOW NOW!

oh blimey ... hadn't thought of that.

Don't think I can get one the same ... but maybe I should try! eeek!

thanks for the responses ... it's so sweet to see him snuggling up with him and chatting away and when I try to remove it he SCREAMS ... so I'm glad I can relax and leave him with it!

no need for a spare - just make sure it gets swapped occasionally so he doesn't get too attached to the one.

HandbagAddiction · 07/04/2006 15:46

Yes - definitely recommend getting some more of the same or having about 4 or 5 different ones that he will feel equally comfortable with, so if you do lose one...it's not such a big deal.

We do this with dd and it works really well.

Oh dear, I didn't realise you couldn't have teddy bears and stuff in their cot. DS is 11 months old, but for quite some time now he's had various toys, books and teddies in his cot. He likes to play with them when he wakes up in the morning, giving us precious extra lie-ins. What's the risk?

lovemygirl · 07/04/2006 16:27

I was going to start a thread about this - when does a toy become a snuggly and stop being a smothering hazard? Dd has several toys up th every top end of her cot, well away from her but has teking a liking to a nounou thingy! I have been taking it away like LadyP.

lovemygirl · 07/04/2006 16:28

That would be the very top end!
