Trampolines - one at a time?

How many of you keep to this rule? Am I being mean? Should I let two on at a time, say two of equal weight and bounciness? Or shall I continue to 'spoil the fun', as ds1 sees it?
Thoughts please.

And I was worrying about injuries, hadn't even thought about that!!! It was such a monster to put up - can't imagine anyone would be fool enough to try and dismantle the thing. How did they get it out of the garden?

Milliways - we need to come to your house for lessons in how to have fun on trampoline. You're a positive mine of ideas! Perhaps could position self with discreet watering can?

We too have a 12ft trampoline with net surround. I really wish mine would actually use it as one - they seem to use it more as a wrestling ring these days! I do allow them on it 2 at a time if I am feeling brave but they invariably get way too rough so I have to be a big bad mommy and then insist they use it singly.

The garden is not secure - gates but no locks - and I don't know if they spent ages dismantling it or just came mob handed and lifted it onto a trailer.
I guess some other family is enjoying it now - but that's not much consolation for my family. And I loved it for exercise too!

wabbitintheheadlamps · 04/04/2006 22:07

Shocking - whatever next?

(on the parp issue - Parp = I disagree to general direction of opinion to such a degree (up it's own gloomy bottom) that I'm not going to grace thread with my opinion)

Sounds really snooty put like that but meant my parp quite lightheartedly in the best MN tradition! I Feel strongly about letting children (of an age) look out for their own safety to some degree

MrsMaple · 04/04/2006 22:09

You poor thing. DS2's bike was nicked last month - a bike with stabilizers on for gods sake - and that made me really cross Angry but a taking a trampoline is much worse. Report it!

how big a trampolene was it, hellsbells? You're describing our garden...

MrsMaple · 04/04/2006 22:15

Wabbit - at last! I finally find out what Parp means. I hope to find thread to Parp at soon. Thank you. Though as you see, thread is veering round to your way of thinking pretty quickly. I suspect I shall be going the way of Moono. DS1 is going to love you tomorrow.

Shock HellsBells! Can you claim on your insurance? We have enough fun moving ours around the garden to mow the lawn / let the grass grow etc!

MrsMaple - anytime! No doubt the water pistols / Super soakers will get more use this year.

Have your played Bombs Away?

hellsbellsdownunder · 04/04/2006 22:18

Well it was a round 13ft one from Argos, bought for dd's main Christmas present. She is 13. We did briefly consider the question of security but assumed it was just too big and unwieldy for anyone to try and pinch it. How wrong we were!!

I've reported it to the police - not that I think we'll ever get it back. Sad

MrsMaple · 04/04/2006 22:25

Milliways - feel slightly guilty responding to you in light of Hellsbells tragedy, but no, we haven't played Bombs Away. Haven't played anything. Only went up this afternoon (much swearing and sweating)and as Wabbit has guessed nobody has had any FUN because of my insistence we stick to the manufacturers strict one-at-a-time rule. Now all this can change. How do you play?

OP posts:
Milliways · 04/04/2006 22:31

Oh, its just a bit of silliness. They all bounce at exactly the same time shouting 1 2 3 (on each bounce) then "Bombs Away!" as they Bomb (like in a swimming pool) onto the bed - where they then all bounce around like little bouncing bombs. Do have to be a bit careful with numbers here or they will all land on each other.

Mine have a whole wealth of trampoline games - but it is over 2 years old now & still very well used.

hellsbellsdownunder · 04/04/2006 22:32

That's so kind of you to think of my feelings, Mrs M! But don't let my misfortune spoil your fun. The scrambled eggs game sounds brilliant - makes me wish I had young children again instead of hulking teenagers.

MrsMaple · 04/04/2006 22:34

Silliness is good. Silliness is the new us, but she says, still half-heartedly thumbing the manufacturers dire warning booklet, would you let ds1 (8) do this with dd (4)? Will dd ever stop bouncing, bounce on neck etc etc?

MrsMaple · 04/04/2006 22:38

and hellsbells shall organize commemorative in memoriam bounce tomorrow morning just for you!

We had Russian kids staying with us 2 years ago, and they all came to the church BBQ at our house. Despite signs in Russian, pleading & shouting, must ahve had 6+ teenagers on at any time.

Mine are now 15 & 10 & go on together, as do groups of friends. As they get bigger I try & enforce the 2 rule strictly - but ours is 14'.

When the church groups arrive we let lots of under 5's on together, and up to 3 under 10's.

If lots here, they all sit round the edge & take it in turns to "perform" - could be a set routine of Star, Tuck, Spin etc, and the others give them marks out of 10. "Trampoline Idol" :)

magicfarawaytree · 04/04/2006 22:50

these games sound like real fun but I am such a kill joy - def 1 at a time at our house when we get it.

elastamum · 04/04/2006 23:13

We have a 12ft one with a net round it. Me, our nanny and DS2 all had a good bounce together this afternoon so i can hardly judge on this one Grin
