Lately ive been looking in the mirror and trying to work out whats different about me. My hair looks worse then normal, my skin looks dull and tired and although im slimmer then pre-pregnancy everything seems to be going south. Ive got loads of those bloody thread veins too to add to my stretchmarks. Its just crept upon me im looking older.I look like im constantly frowning as my eyes look are so heavy and dark. These sleepless nights are starting to take its toll.Ive just gone and brough every anti wrinkle, firming cream going in a panic.

No, I was an ancient crone before I had DD.

TinyGang · 03/04/2006 15:44

Oh yesSad Dark circles, wider than I was, no grey hair yet though by some miracle.

It's my attitude that seems most aged to me though. I seem obsessed about hats and coats - is everybody wearing theirs? Subconciously checking for hidden dangers. Mind that - you could slip; don't do that, you'll chop your fingers off; don't eat that it's bad for your teeth. Inwardly tutting about things I see others doing ie harrumphing about teenagers on skateboards and rubbish childrens tv. See? OLD FART.

We were at a dinner dance on Saturday - husband's colleague's partner (seriously) asked if my husband and I were the same age - he's 47 and I'm 35 - does that answer the question?!

drosophila · 03/04/2006 16:10

So much older looking.

Mog · 03/04/2006 20:08

Definitely. I had my kids older but before kids people were really surprised by my age. three kids in four years means no one is in the least surprised by my age. Find it all quite depressing really.

TwoIfBySea · 03/04/2006 20:21

I can honestly say my dts have made a happy woman very old!

blueteddy · 03/04/2006 20:25

Yep - I seem to spot more grey hairs by the day atm & I definitely look more haggared now!

helsy · 03/04/2006 20:26

In body, but not in spirit.

I certainly look a lot older as I don't seem to find much time to spend on 'personal presentation'. Had passport photo done yesterday - was horrified at my 1970's style shapeless long hair. Going to Toni & Guy's on Saturday.

Dottydot · 03/04/2006 22:17

oh yes. About 100 years. I know I should be drinking tons of water and exercising like mad to compensate, but having kids has also made me more ill over the last 4 years with constants colds/flu/you name it, they've passed it on, that the little darlings have sucked the life force out of me...

Bless them

Mirage · 04/04/2006 09:46

God yes,I could weep when I see photos of me from a few years back.I had lovely shiny hair, good skin, fashionable clothes.

2 dd's later,dry,wrinkly pasty skin,spots,continual colds,lifeless hair.The only plus point is that I don't have any stretchmarks.

oliveoil · 04/04/2006 09:49

Yes, but I battle daily against it.

After this weekend of little or no sleep, I need to spend about £300 in Boots.

pesky brats.

Kabsy · 04/04/2006 09:55

God yes! Its nice to know I'm not the only haggered old bag lady!Grin

Since pregnancy my skin is so dry and my rosacea (spelling?)- i.e red cheeks is horrendous

Used curse my greasey spotty skin but I miss it since I've got this dry flaky skin Yuk! Shock

I've always had stretch marks and thread veins but now its is worse with additional loose skin from preganancy and less tone all over

Used have lovely ringlet curls now have frizzy uncontrollable mess

seem to be plagued with thrush more frequently than before Shock

boobs aren't as pert

Only positive is no grey hairs as yet Grin

NomDePlume · 04/04/2006 09:58

No, but I feel older

CaptainDippy · 04/04/2006 10:16

I am offically an old hag - I have the rings of saturn around my eyes, saggy stretched-marked boobs, saggy stretch-marked tummy, fat bum, fat thighs. My hair is limp and my skin is covered in stress rashes and teenage spots. Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! ......and I am only 23!!

Actually feeling quite depressed now.

I am going to go and eat some chocolate.

Grin
CaptainDippy · 04/04/2006 10:18

No grey hairs here either Kabsy!! (Although my pubic hair went ginger when I was pregnant with DD1 and has never gone back to it original shade!! TMI - Sorry!! Blush Smile

Capie · 04/04/2006 10:21

Everything Kabsy said & the gery hairs :(

Desperately trying to gym but there is always something of theirs that make me miss class Angry

Even ds1 (he is 2.5yrs) refers to mummies wobbly tummy!

No more ..... with the light on Wink

Luggs · 04/04/2006 13:07

Yes I look awful - lost loads of weight after DS so look haggard and old. Nice that people feel the need to tell you how much worse you look as well ! he is worth it mind you !

muma3 · 04/04/2006 13:09

puddle · 04/04/2006 13:17

Yes, but it's body rather than face for me. Stomach basically. Am thinner than pre kids but saggier.

I obviously look older than I did 6 years ago when I had ds. But I don't look any worse facially than two of my best friends (same age) who don't have kids - in fact I look much younger than one of them. Sleep, not smoking, loads of water and moisturiser is the key IMO.

Monkeybar · 04/04/2006 15:25

Definitely. Used to look young for my age, now definitely look my age, which is a bit of a prob as my dh is younger than me and now looks it! The pale, spotty, baggy eyed, saggy bodied reflection CANNOT be me. Frown lines and wrinkles are multiplying, and I notice it most 1st thing in the morning. I've forgotten what a full nights sleep feels like. I'm exhausted.

But he's worth it! (And I'm now trying to talk dh round to number 2)
