When did you take your baby out of sleepsuits?

...already I'm getting fed up of DS's sleepsuits (he is just over 2 weeks) and they are getting so bobbly so quickly with the amount of washing and burping! I wondered when you ladies moved over to outfits in the day and sleepsuits at night?

Thanks!

About 9 months, I think. I can't be bothered to change baby clothes in the morning and evening - too many other things to think about! Plus when in rompers / trousers, DS1 always had a gap of bare flesh between the socks & where his trousers had risen up.

Just put your DC in whatever you like best and forget everyone else's opinion. :)

Occasionally outfits from about 6 months, but mostly sleepsuits until 9 months. He still has sleepsuits at night now, at 16 months.

Never used sleepsuit in the night for DS2 as I discovered cotton nightgowns like this but this is expensive I got mine in Mothercare but don't think they do them anymore- they were a godsend. Vest underneath, socks and long nightgown - nappy changes were a breeze - used a head torch to do up all the bloody poppers with DS1!

Can't remember when we stopped using sleep suits with DD. with DS (now 8m), it was about 6w, when he started rolling over at changing time, but he mostly wore footed leggings and vests. Fewer poppers! Since he was about 6m, he's been in t-shirts and trousers, he's refused to lie down for changes and prefers to pull up to standing. I find rib-waist trousers the easiest clothing for him as I ca n drop him into them. We've started using pyjamas at night for the same reason. Chasing him around the room to get those sleepsuit poppers done up is a PITA and we all end up screaming!

As for jeans - DS has several pairs, but only rib-waist and lined. I think they're harder-wearing than other trousers and offer his knees more protection when he's crawling around the park/playground or at playgroup. I'm fairly sure DD was later to crawl and by the time she did it was mid-winter, not autumn, so outside less.

Basically you have to choose the clothes that are most appropriate to your baby's activities and make dressing easiest for you - sod everyone else!
