Isn't it pants when you have to go to work when they are ill?

dd1 came home from playgroup yesterday with a raging temp and slept for 2 hours in the afternoon, MIL said she wasn't herself. Went to bed at 6.15pm.

This morning she was coughing and streaming with a cold and really hot. Dosed her up with Calpol and sent her off to MIL's.

But she was looking all sad over dh's shoulder as he took her away.

Crapamundo Sad.

cant you take a day off?

Feistybird · 30/03/2006 10:09

yep horrible. On the upside MIL will probably spoil the pants off her though Smile

I could take the day off as they are really really good here, but they have both had chicken pox in the last month or so and I feel I have used up my favours Sad.

Plus I have tons to do (she says, MN'ing).

MIL is fab and will spoil, but I want her on my knee.

work are, luckily, good about it.
so i have emptied, sorted and re organised our medicine cupboard. empited and sorted our plastic container shelf which was really pi$$ing me off and now i am going to tackle the dining room/craft room.

every cloud has a silver lining. Smile

My boss is off this pm so I may see how she is later.

Off now to do some work.

Thanks for allowing me my moan, I really am in a lucky postion, working pt for a fab company with MIL instead of nursery so should shut up really.

It is horrid but on the plus side she is at MIL. My MIL is nearby but not prepared to get up before noon and wil not exactly put herself out! I hate having to pack them off to nursery when they are ill and panic about that call to pick them up.
Hope she is better soon.

Tortington · 30/03/2006 13:54

god no, hate ill kids - whinging moaning muuuuuuuummmmmmmmm.

oliveoil · 30/03/2006 15:12

she is eating ice cream (she told MIL 'mummy says it is best to have sweets when I am ill' Shock)

The liar, wait till I get home.

Like a saddo, I have actually bought her some Percy Pig sweets from M&S. For nutritional puroses only.

If this doesn't sound like I'm being really unsympathetic (I'm really really not) it's even worse when you work from home and have not a soul who can help. Even a MIL who's not that helpful sounds like bliss from where I'm sitting this week.
Really don't mean that to sound snippy. Just been one of those times when I envy everyone who has family help.

oliveoil · 30/03/2006 15:19

Oh, I know how lucky I am believe me.

Doesn't stop me getting the violins out though.

I finish at 4pm so will be off soon.

We (teachers) don't get paid if we stay to look after them. :(

Do you?

auntyquated · 30/03/2006 17:20

i am a teacher and am allowed 5 days per year to be off with childern, more than 5 and you aren't paid.

flibbertygibbet · 30/03/2006 17:33

Is that terms & conditions from the "green book" AQ? I'm not a teacher, but my contract is subject to normal green book t&c, but I've never seen it and don't know what they are!

jmum6 · 30/03/2006 18:42

we're allowed the 1st day off, to find appropriate childcare but then subsequent days are not paid

compo · 30/03/2006 18:45

pmsl about her saying the sweet thing and then you buy her sweets Grin
