Night Time Nappies

Hi, Out little girl is day time potty trained but we put her in pull ups for night time. Quite often she is wet through when we wake her up and so are her sheets. We have her in Pampers pull ups size 6 - we think she may need something larger, but this seems to be the largest they do - Is there anything out there for kids to move onto past Pampers size 6 or should we think about training her through the night - she is not yet three and probably not ready, but we are kind of being forced by the lack of options. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

how much does she weigh?

Not sure - as a clichéd dad I don't have a clue - I'll ask her mum and post later - she is quite a big girl - well into 3-4 yr clothes

am just surprised that she is too big even for size 6 nappies. Could it maybe be that the nappy is too big, and that's why it leaks? Pull ups are not the most absorbent nappies. I would suggest going back to ordinary fastening nappies and seeing what difference that makes.

try normal proper nappies (ie not nappy pants) in size 6 (which are normally 16 - 30kg)

OR huggies drynites (which cater for up to 15 year olds)

The latter are much more expensive tho!

just read that shes not even 3..... im sure a proper nappy ratehr than huggies dry nites (which dont still aged 4!) must be the answer.

pampers easy up nappies are more of a nappy than huggies pull ups which are trainging pants or pampers feel and learn that are the same.

Alternativle go for cloth nappies... you could get some size 3 tots or Mother Ease bedwetters

Don't want to state the obvious but are you limiting drinks near bedtime? (Obviously within reason - no need to let her die of thirst!) And make sure she has a pee before going to bed?

dd potty trained in day but at night i put on nomal nappy not pull ups.. this may solve problem, dont think pull up's are designed to be that absorbant

We use Huggies drynites, but ds1 is an average sized 4yo and they are still a little big for him, so I agree that they might be too big for your dd. Have you looked into waterproof mattress protectors? Boots sell one which is basically a mat which goes underneath the child (i.e. not the size of the whole bed), is machine washable and dries quickly.

Or you could get stuffable cloth nappies, then you can put extra stuffing in them for night-time.

If she's not ready for night-time training it really doesn't help to try to force the issue (I say from bitter experience). Giving lots of drinks early in the day and not close to bedtime, only water if she asks, can help.
