My 11 month old daughter will not take milk from her bottle or any fluids from a trainer cup. Since 10 weeks she would only take liquids when she was asleep. Her liquid intake very sporadic. I am worried about dehydration. Health professionals useless so far. Any suggestions?

I am no expert and I think you definitely need to get some professional help for her but in the meantime make the most of what she's eating i.e. lots of milk on her cereal, jelly for deserts, ice lollies to suck on and juicy fruits like apples, oranges and veg like cucumber etc to keep her fluids up.

You really do need to get the milk situation sorted though, hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will be along to advise you.

I should add that she is constipated.

finely puree some pear and prune for the constipation. When you say health professionals have been useless, what advice have they given you? You need to get to the bottom of the reason for this and quite fast, because if she becomes ill and she won't take fluids she'll end up in hospital.

Do you bf? Is it just liquids from bottles/beakers that she refuses?

A friend had that problem which was solved, eventually, by a bottle feeding specialist!

It sound to me like you need to be a bit more pushy with the health professionals. Make your self a GP appointment and insist on some help. If its an issue with using bottles/beakers then enquire on a specialist but if its a general fluid intake problem then I'd be surprised if the GP tries to shrug you off. If they do then you need to change GP!

What is a bottle feeding specialist? I haven't come across anyone. This has been going on a long time. Thanks for your help.

To be honest I'm not that sure. I just remember a friend saying that her lo wouldn't take a bottle, and she was soon to return to work so really needed her to, and that she saw a bottle feeding specialist. I remember being really surprised to hear there was such a service. (I just had a quick google and the term infant feeding specialist came up a few times so that may be the official title?) I've not had first hand experience to say anymore so perhaps your GP may be able to fill you in on local services that may help.
