Dyspraxic and learning to drive

Hello,

My DH is dyspraxic and learning to drive (it doesn't affect his coordination too much, more his self esteem and organisation skills). I have tried emailing the DVLA to ask if he could have extended time on his driving exam due to his impaired reading speed but I haven't had a reply. I have also tried to find a driving instructor that has experience teaching people with dyspraxia in my local area (North Yorkshire).

Help! I can't find anything that can help him.

He really needs to learn how to drive to get more job opportunities and we're having a baby soon, so it would be infinitely useful and I don't know how to drive Confused

My DS1 is dyspraxic. In his case it hugely affects his co-ordination. BSM do a computer simulator before they take you out in a car, which established that DS would not be able to cope with the gears. DS learned to drive an automatic and passed an automatic test on about the 5th attempt. He didn't ask about extended time and TBH I don't think they'd allow it.
