detergent residue left in nappies from over-dosing in previous washes?

misdee · 22/03/2006 22:38

from the build up of detergent in the nappies?

Hattie05 · 22/03/2006 22:38

Not sure but sounds painful Wink

They do produce a foam.
I use mine for my nappies, and they do a splendid job.

TicTacsMum · 22/03/2006 22:46

Badger & Misdee - don't tend to use too much detergent normally but thought this might have been the problem.

Moondog - do you know what produces the foam? I didn't think they contained any detergent. If they produce foam, how do they know when to stop foaming - ie in the rinse cycle?!

Mmmm,that's a poimt.
All I know is that they are definitely clean when they come out.
I've used one for ages.

TicTacsMum · 22/03/2006 23:27

Oh well - will see what the nappies are like in the morning!!

Silly question
What are you talking about?
Do I need these when I am up to my armpits in nappies?

moondog · 23/03/2006 08:45

Fenny,it's a ball filled with little pellets that you can use over and over again.
Fewer chemicals than detergent and ver cost effective.
Got to go out now,but will try to find you a link later.

NannyL · 23/03/2006 09:17

as far as im aware their are no chemicals...

just the materials in the ecoballs react with the water to make oxygen (live vanish oxyaction i suppose but 'natural' oxygen) and its the oxygen that gets into the stains to get them clean

TicTacsMum · 23/03/2006 17:04

I still don't understand 'the science bit' but anyway, the update is that when i got the nappies out of the machine this morning the nappies and muslins had NO stains on them - just a couple on two of the boosters. This is unheard of in our house - ever since she started on infant gaviscon her (breastfed poo) nappies have been really stained.

It's so easy too - you just need to chuck the ball in the top of the load - no faffing around with detergent, napisan, vinegar etc!

I'm impressed!!!

HAve been to the link. Does this mean you add NOTHING, no powder, no nothing? Sorry to be a thicko but it sounds too good to be true. I have never heard of anything like it. Just clothes, water and the ball and everything comes out smelling clean and fresh?

NannyL · 24/03/2006 09:45

yes fenny...

but they dont smell clean cause it the perfume that makes clothes smell fresh and the contians no perfume,

fenny1 · 24/03/2006 11:15

Sounds pretty cool although am depressed about my nappy system.

alluka10 · 24/03/2006 13:02

I have been using aqua balls for a months but still add fabric conditioner to it..just cannot get around that clothes without a clean smell are still ehm..CLEAN...am also I add ecover bleach powder to my whites..just in case..

moondog · 24/03/2006 16:02

Mine smell clean fenny.
Not an artificial smell,just clean.
Agree,it is really fantastic.

TicTacsMum · 24/03/2006 20:36

I don't mind my clothes not smelling of perfume if they've been dried outside - there's no better smell than fresh air on clothes (and especially bedding).
