When did you put your baby in their own room?

My DS is 4 months old and I plan on keeping him in mine and my DHs room until he is 6 months, however a lot of my friends from antenatal class have already got their babies in their own rooms. They say their babies sleep better through the night etc. My DS still wakes at around 2am and 6am for food so it is handy having him nexto me, but my husband wakes him up throughout the night snoring, cracking his joints and farting! It's driving me a bit insane, I just want to do what is right for my baby. Do you think SIDS advice or him getting a good sleep is more important? Thanks!

DS moved into his own room once he'd outgrown his crib, when his corrected age was a little over 6 months.

Co-sleeping wasn't a consideration for us, as DH is an extremely heavy sleeper, and has on more than one occasion, rolled around so much in his sleep that he's pushed me out of bed.

It's such a personal decision, for us it was 8 months. She was still waking once during the night, but more for comfort than food and I'd gone back to work when she was 6 months old, so really needed some sleep. 8 months fell in the summer holidays so we did it then in case it resulted in mega meltdowns and even less sleep for a few weeks days. As it was she woke up for the first three days, dh went to soothe her (no smell of milk) and then she just slept through. We still have the monitor on now though and she's three in December! Hopefully no. 2 will be the same - if he ever gets around to arriving... Hmm

Just before 6 months. It was just the right time for us all.
