In a nutshell...worried about DS was very upset over nothing tonight, very emotional, crying, frustrated.

It's his first full week back at school this week started mid week last week, also just moved to the juniors therefore really like starting a new school.

He had early nights last week and at the weekend but last night and tonight seemed very tetchy, emotional at the slightest thing!

Anyone else's DC going through this? Hate to see him so upset :(

My DS is almost 7, just going into Y3. He has been exactly the same.

I have, unfortunately, no words of advice, but I have put it down to the fact that new teacher, getting back into routine etc....

perhaps it is this or Im thinking is it a serge of testosterone (sp) or a growth spurt, or do boys change around this age????

I have a dd age 7, one week into Y3 who has done the same thing tonight! Huge over reactions and emotionally up and down. I have also put it down to being tired and out of sync with the new routines etc, hoping it will pass Sad

I already started the same thread last week Grin

DS came home tonight utterly beside himself. Wailed for 15 mins then went to bed and slept until 6pm! Ate a very subdued tea, had a big bubbly bath and was asleep again by 8.30.

I think its totally normal.

So no words of wisdom but at least we're not alone.... Smile

Keep these posts coming...Im starting to, slightly feel a little better.

But getting to the other suggestions...do boys change around this age as it seems to be 7 years for us all

My ds has just gone into yr 2 but for the last couple of years I've had to deal with various 'meltdowns' normally I'm the target , but this time he's gone all clingy and cuddly (Smile) he's even let me kiss him in the playground and held my hand! But he won't join in the after school clubs at the moment Sad but I'm just going to put it down him being a bit unsure at the moment. I think lots of kids go through some sort of conflict but it comes out in different ways

Yup. DS2 age 8 just started Y3 too had massive explosion yesterday. KS2 is a bit of a change too, no playtime in afternoon and more serious independent work I think. But yes IME also a time of pre pubescent craziness. Whoopee.

Same every year for us. I'm waiting for it to hit - we're not a week in to term yet. Hoping that maybe, just maybe, this will be the year that we DON'T have the screaming ab-dabs... (DS is 11)

last few nights have eased off, DS had some good nights of sleep no waking during the night either. Def down to starting back to school, new school at that.

He seems happy enough, a restful weekend is in store I think!

Same here, but mine's 8. He is rarely not like this after school. Weekends and holidays are better!! I am not really sure what to do differently with him. He and his brother (5) seem to take it in turns to have meltdowns. I dread the end of the day!!! They are very good at school though!
