Ok it's pathetic I know but I am sooo sad right now, my only dc starting school tomorrow. Sad at how quick it's going, it's scary. Going to take all self control not to cry in front of him at the school gates. If anyone has happy thoughts to share and good things about a primary aged child/experiences that brings please do!

He is starting a new adventure!! Have you got to be anywhere after dropping him off - can you not round up a mate and have a cuppa?

Kids are resilient - parents not so much

Ahh, I am a year 1 teacher and think my reception colleagues are amazing, they really welcome all the little ones and keep beady eyes on them.
I also really feel for you, it is very hard I know, been there once and will be there again next yr.
He will be shattered but I m sure he will have lots of fun!
Save your crying, bite your tongue and then have a good wail at home!
Be very proud of him and instead of asking him what he did, ask him who he played with or what was his favourite thing of the day.
Good luck to both of you! sending sneaky hug

Thank you :) Yes I have arranged to do thing afterwards. I thinK I have built it into a far bigger deal than it is! He has been at nursery full time for 2 years so it's not so much the time away as it is a sign of him growing up. Hoping to start a PGCE next year so going to try and set up volunteering at the school which may help.
