He's driving us mad. He's been attached to me for weeks now. Insists on sitting on me, next to me, leaning up against me, basically hanging.

He's regressing his talk into toddler one word answers and very babyish. He cries and sulks and is generally cheeky.

Just another phase ?

Is he going to school this week? If so it might explain it. They do sense something is up. DS thinks he won't see us anymore so we had to reassure him. Also with regards to potty training he has had far more poo accidents than normal.

I did wonder if this may have had something to do with it. He is going on tues but seems very excited by it all. He doesn't seem phased by it at all.

But 4 year olds aren't always the best at expressing things. DS seems ok but when you talk to him he seems a bit worried.

I've had a chat with him about it and he says he'd really looking forward to going. He has friends going with him, he's seen the school and his class has met his teacher and his uniform is his favourite colour so he likes it. I suppose time will tell.

So glad it's not just me! Both of my dds have had phases of doing this over the summer and it's been driving me insane. DD2 (age 3) did exactly what you're describing (baby talk, clingyness, whiny voice) at the beginning of the holidays but she seems to have got over it now thank heavens, but no sooner had she stopped than dd1 (age 5) started doing exactly the same thing. It's incredibly irritating! Although I do find my own, and dh's differing reactions to to the two of them quite funny - I found dd2 vastly more annoying when she was doing it, whereas dh could just about tolerate dd2 but he can't bear it when dd1 launches into her ridiculous baby-talking (which I don't mind quite so much - I think because she was so little when dd2 was born I feel that she missed out on part of her babyhood so I don't really mind if she wants to make up for it occasionally now that she's older).

I'm sure there are plenty of excellent explanations for why they're doing this, but I'm equally sure that it's a phase and they'll both get over it. Can't come soon enough as far as I'm concerned!
