Do i have to repay NHS bursary if i fail?

Just returned to uni after 12 months maternity leave. Failed a module just before i left for mat leave, (passed everything else for the year) handed the resubmission portfolio in on 3rd august - failed again.

My world has just collapsed as uni have now emailed me saying that because i failed im trailing too many credits (its a double module) to progress into 3rd year and my options are;
1 - retake the module which would mean restudying the module and therefore attending just the lectures for this module for a year but recieve no bursary or childcare allowance whilst attending AND have to pay £800 to resubmit. (Meaning surviving for 12 months with no income and having to go to uni for 1 lecture a week)
2 - withdraw from course.

If i withdraw because i cannot afford to take an entire year to resit just that module do i have to repay all my bursary? That would be approx £300 a month for 2 years Sad

To top it all off i pregnant and wnt be able to get a job!

Thanks all

Hi.

Sorry to hear about your module.

I am sure you don't have to repay due to failing, would be a bit inhumane.

I was wondering though, could you do enough HCA bank work to qualify for Maternity Allowance or to live on while you retake and go for the 1 lecture a week?

PS I got my last NHS clerking job when 25wks pregnant and huuuge so it is possible.

Thanks for your reply beehaving, you have helped me see straight as i am absolutely shocked to the core by that email.

I do have a part time job and was able to claim maternity allowance last year so i suppose that would help.
They would still expect me to do full time clinical placement though as i have to complete that. I wasnt able to complete the module because i have an incompetent cervix and the doctor signed me off the more heavy handed aspects of my training (radiographer) so that would be about 20 weeks of 5 full days a week in my local hospital. Theres no way i could afford to put 2 children (DC2 due in january) into childcare with no funding.
My DP works hard but isnt particularly well paid and we dont have much money left at the end of the month even with me recieving nearly £300 a month NHS bursary.

I want to cry.

I sound so ungrateful, im sorry. I know im lucky to have my place on the degree and be paid a bursary.

I had DD imbetween 2nd and 3rd year and took 12 months maternity leave. My plan was to go back to do my 3rd year part time and take 3 months mat leave in jan so as not to waste any more time (DC2 not altogether planned Blush but very much wanted).
I id not relalise i would not be able to pass the year by failing this resubmission.
