Should I criticise my friend's child?

A good friend's 6yr old child is driving me mad with his rudeness, but she only smiles and gently tries to suggest to him that he ought to 'try' to be a bit more polite, answer when spoken to etc. At first i didn't let it bother me, but it just seems to be getting worse and worse. Shall I just accept that we have different parenting styles and what I might find rude, she might just see as a 'typical' child?

God I have this. I just try and block it out when the child is talking to her mum. Is she's at mine without her mum I will say 'can you just ask me again in a happy voice' Blush

I don't quite understand your question, are you suggesting you criticise your friend about how she chooses to bring up her son?

Good luck with that if you are.

However if you are suggesting you do a "my house my rules" type of approach with this rude child I would go for it. I can't stand unpleasant children and drippy parents and am more than happy to say "Well, dear, in this house we always say PLEASE and THANK YOU" or some such ghastly middle-class cliche. Grin
