DCs are 4 and 5, they love snakes and ladders, shopping list.

We need something new that doesn't take too long. Ludo proved too long.

Any ideas?

Mostly not board games, but the orchard games are brilliant and most are quite short. Pop to the shops and bus stop are two we have that are more board game like. We also like jelly elephants, crazy chefs and shopping list. Dd1 is 6 and ds is 3 and we enjoy them together. There is also fun in them if you don't win.

Molehillmountain · 26/08/2012 19:04

Sorry- I see you already have shopping list.

Tummy ache has been well liked by all of mine and is fairly short. I think it's another orchard one.

We really like if you see a crocodile, it's one I can play with both my 2 and 4 year old. Scardy cat is also a good one they can play with together on their own, both are Orchard Toys games.

Oh and don't forget chess. Ours love it-riding the horses up and down, making towers with the rooks and arranging the pawns in lovely patterns Smile

One banana, two banana orchard game is great, avoid what's rubbish -it's rubbish :o

Jack stack is nice and simple, connect four, there's also a card game called Kinder Bunnies, which has two sets of cards, just use the sky blue set and no reading is required. (kids collect bunnies and carrots for them and roll dice to avoid "safety hazards" like hot pans and tall stairs.)

Junior Party Monopoly is infinitely better than real Monopoly for everyone in the family. Simple, fun and short! DS3 is five and just got it for his birthday and we've pretty much played it everyday since.

Any of the Orchard games are good. Other games young kids can play that are not quite board games include Connect 4, Sorry!, Guess Who...

WilfSell · 26/08/2012 21:48

Oh yeah - Pass the Bomb junior is fantastic for younger kids too.

The Lego board games are brilliant, and the kids get to "make" the board before you start.

bluana · 27/08/2012 00:24

Connect 4 and spotty dogs for short ones. Coppit a bit longer but a lot of fun.

BertieBotts · 27/08/2012 00:29

Ooh

bluana · 27/08/2012 00:43

and Jenga is good too
