Wet pants problem

My daughter has done fairly well with potty training and will now wee on the toilet. However she does seem to have a problem with deciding when it is time to go. If she has clothes on she almost always does a tiny bit of a wee in her pants before rushing to the toilet to do the rest of it. This is really frustrating because her pants are wet every time. Has anyone else had this problem?

yes, my DD did this for a while....it was about 2/3 months before she managed to sort it.

Did you do anything in particular to help stop it?

Both my ds (twins) were the same and still very occasionally do it if they are very "busy". I put up with it for about a month or so and then started mentioning it: "big boys don't have wet pants" etc...not to make them feel bad but just so that they were aware that they could hold it a bit better. They stopped doing it after about 2-3 months altogether. It is nice not having to wash 12 or more pairs of pants per day!! :)

My advice - be patient for a few weeks and then start acting a bit disappointed and mentioning 'big girls' etc... if she keeps doing it. HTH

ROSTED, just came across this, but wanted to let you know about piddle pads - like cloth pads for mums that you clip round the gusset. I have some that were never used-white with a fairy pattern, if you want to try them...the pants wont get wet and the pads can be thrown in with any wash as long as fabric softener is used. Note these are only designed to catch the little leak at the start - not to hold a full wee (though in the ones I did use, it once held a small wee rather successfully :) )
