Pocket money at 3?

The kid got some money for her 3rd birthday, and has really enjoyed spending it.

She has thought about what she wants, and has of her own accord decided to leave some things in the hope of finding something she likes more - this means it has taken her almost 2 months to spend £30, but now it has all gone and she has bought things she likes (some Lego men, some Bob the Builder figures and a machine, both Olympic mascots and a mini)

As she has seemingly enjoyed making the decisions and having her own money we thought we might give her some pocket money to put in her now empty purse.

Anyone else who has done this - how much do you give them? We thought maybe £1 a week, but then you can't get much with that, and it'd take until Christmas to save up to buy much. So how much do you give your toddler in pocket money, or do you think it's best left until later?

I give my 2 and half year old £2 a week, he usually buys some sweets/treats with it and a hot wheels car (£1 each in asda). We never really have any other sweets/chocolate/crisps in the house just fruit, yoghurts etc for snacks so I don't mind him spending £1 of it on that. I think I'd keep it at £2 for a while, when he's old enough he can learn to save (something I'm rubbish at so think important to learn at young age) x
