Chores for 7yo DD ?

DD has asked to start getting pocket money so I have said she must do chores each week to earn it which she is happy with . We have sat and came up with

Collect in dishes and load dishwasher (I will supervise for knives etc)
Make her bed every morning
Tidy her room after dinner each night

I can't really think of anything else but I feel that's not very much ? What other things could 7yo be responsible for ?

Dusting? Tidying?

Pairing socks
Sorting underwear into correct drawer
Making pile of her unwanted clothes books and toys and free cycling or giving to charity
Helping make her pack lunch or sandwich for next day

Doing the same here - mine's hoovering, doing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the kitchen floor and cleaning the windows. She's keen to start cooking one night a week.

None of that well, and sometimes not willingly, I might add - but, it's a start. I have a vision of sitting on my ass on MN whilst the teenage kids do all the work.

I know, good luck to me.

Washing - loading / unloading the machine
Emptying rubbish bins around the house

Does she put her clean clothes away? That is something easy for a child to do

Yeah nanky sitting with a cocktail while to dcs Hoover under your feet GrinGrin

Yeah I think I will add dusting to the list . Are you paying per chore completed or at the es of the week in a lump sum if a sufficient number are completed ?

We do a thing stolen from MN - 20p per year of age a week, IN RETURN FOR one chore per year of age a day.

So, 8 year old has 8 chores a day and gets £1.60/week.

6 year old, 6 chores, £1.20
4 year old, 4 chores, 80p

Works for us, the older one thinks it's fair because she gets more cold hard cash, and has more responsibility. The youngest one is relieved he doens't have heaps of chores.

Chores are simple things like PUT YOUR SHOES AWAY. By the time they unpack from school thyv'e done most of what I demand, but the ability to bribe the little capitalists with an argos book and the promise of earning more is the cleverest bit of parenting anyone has ever shared with me. And, the threat of docking the agreed amount for non-compliance, natch.

I love MN.

Really. I do.
