I was recommended them by a granny on the bus, but I've not tried them on DS yet, she said they were very good.

BertieBotts · 17/08/2012 13:37

DS used to love them - they really seemed to help.

I think they contain gluten though so probably not a good idea before 6 months.

BornToFolk · 17/08/2012 13:42

yeah, DS used to love them! Only after 6 months though and only before they actually get teeth, DS was gnawing on one once he had a couple of front teeth and managed to bite off a chunk Shock

They're edible in the sense that they won't do any harm if the baby eats some but the chunk that DS gnawed off was quite large (pea sized) and I was concerned about a choking risk. They are rock hard, really not biscuit like in texture.

BertieBotts · 17/08/2012 16:21

They're not really designed to be eaten like biscuits, they gnaw on them like a chunk of wood. They are made of really hard biscuit though so they kind of dissolve very slowly.

HildaHotPants · 17/08/2012 16:47

Do they still come with either a blue or pink ribbon? To pin to the baby's clothing.

Figgygal · 17/08/2012 17:05

The pack i have just has white ribbon in it

teedeeuk · 17/08/2012 17:08

Does the box still bear the legend 'As used in Royal Nurseries'? Grin

ZuleikaD · 17/08/2012 18:50

I used these for DD but found them no better than other teething things and considerably less value than bread lollies - sliced up sticks of bread straight out of the freezer.

valiumredhead · 17/08/2012 19:40

Ds loved them as they were so hard he could really clamp down on them.

lola88 · 17/08/2012 21:48

I've found because they are quite small ds can't get a good grip to really go at it he ends up dropping it all the time he's 6mo

lambbone · 17/08/2012 21:55

Bickiepegs are one of the few things I can remember about my younger sister's babyhood, and I was so thrilled that they were still around when my son was teething that I had to have some. Very popular and effective.

valiumredhead · 17/08/2012 23:53

DOn't they come with ribbon anymore to tie onto a button hole so they aren't dropped?

I've heard of them but never tried them. sticks of uncooked carrot cold from the fridge seem to help our LO, can't tie them on though.
