Dirty protest

DS has never been a good sleeper. He's now 17 months and is occasionally sleeping through the night although when he wakes we just give him his dummy and he dozes off again. He has (finally!!) learned to self settle although it takes a while. However, over the last week we have another problem when putting him to bed....

The dirty protest.

He has started shitting, and removing his clothes and wiping it everywhere. He has only ever been a "one dirty nappy a day" child, and this bedtime fiasco is never a huge amount so I'm certain it's intentional - its also started at naptime now. The problem is, it works, he gets a reaction from me or DH although we are trying to ignore him as much as is possible when having to strip and wash him, the bed, the walls etc.

How do we stop this? And what can I dress him in so he can't pull the shit out of his nappy? He removes sleepsuits, pyjama bottoms and reaches up the leg hole of vests. It's driving me insane!!!

Sleepsuit on backwards so he can't get at the poppers and sleeping bag safety pinned up.

He gets far too warm in a sleeping bag in this weather, sleep suit backwards sounds good though, thankyou :)
