Good (not noisy!) waterproof sheet?!

We've about to go for the whole 'dry at night' bit with DC2 and I need a new waterproof sheet as the stretchy towelling style one I had for DS has given up the ghost and is no longer waterproof!

I've been reading review on Amazon and Argos and none of them seem to get very good reviews! They all seem to be waterproof but really noisy and make the child hot and sweaty! Is there a good one for sale out there-can anyone recommend me one?

this is what we used.
In the picture its the thing with the triangular edging. Not bed sized but plenty big enough to protect the area that gets wee'd on.
Washes well and dries on a radiator. We had two.

The only problem with it is that it can get hot to lie on.

We have one that isn't noisy or sweaty, unfortunately my dds are asleep on it so I can't check the label. It is eco, I think it may be hippychick? Its bamboo if that helps! I first had one from the white company but it was rather crackly so I returned it and bought this. Been on the big bed for years now and washes well etc (we co sleep) Must admit that it has never been wee-ed on though, so I can't testify to its waterproof qualities, I got it when I stopped nappies but dd2 was dry at night before potty training and has never had an accident.
I'll check for a label tomorrow.

Ah now just realised you commented on hot and sweaty..........

Actually compared to whatever Argos sell I think this compares extremely well. Especially if you put it under the sheet instead of on top.

In the unlikely event I have another baby I would be buying two more of these.

Dunelm mill sell the towelling ones, I have them for all my dc beds! Think you can order online or reserve them in store too

mistlethrush · 14/08/2012 23:37

I got one in ikea as a fitted sheet which we use as an undersheet.

BombasticAghast · 15/08/2012 12:06

Hippychick ones are ACE. They feel like normal flannelette, but have a waterproof layer.

BlueChampagne · 15/08/2012 12:43

Another vote for Hippychick.

MrsJohnDeere · 15/08/2012 12:44

John Lewis. Not noisy or sweaty.

littleducks · 15/08/2012 13:05

I was planning in on a hippychick ones but kept hesitating not willing to spend the £££ (washing mattress in meantime). Then I saw the ikea ones, both kids now have one on their beds as bottom sheet. Not crackly or too hot, I need full bed coverage as they wriggle around all night and sleep draped about at strange angles.

PickleMyster · 16/08/2012 16:24

Another vote for hippychicks - just don't tumble dry them

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/08/2012 16:29

we used the disposable bed mats which work really well and they don't crackle or make the bed too hot

FireOverBabylon · 16/08/2012 16:33

Another vote for hippychick. DS's always had these (I was advised to get one before the birth and lie on it in case my waters broke when in bed) so we had one ready for when baby came home. They stay in good condition as well - that original sheet is still fluffy and waterproof after 3 years.

mawbroon · 16/08/2012 16:45

We have ikea waterproof sheets on all our beds. Not crinkly and not hot and sweaty either

BombasticAghast · 16/08/2012 16:52

We tumble dry our hippychicks on cool - are fine.

HuggyPommelHorsebear · 16/08/2012 19:27

Rachael20 · 18/08/2012 06:55

Anothe vote for hippychick.

StealthToddler · 18/08/2012 07:04

The ones from aspace are really good. The hippy chick ones aren't noisy but make us all sweat loads

Yorky · 18/08/2012 07:10

We got ours from boots and they've worked well (and been well tested!) but after about 3 yrs are needing replacing. Single bed size, not crinkly and soft enough to use on hteir own not just as an undersheet - can't comment on how sweaty tehy are though, although kids don't seem to mind
I didn't know Ikea did them - what are they called?

nameuschangeus · 18/08/2012 07:14

Brolly sheets are the way to go! They are lovely and soft and snugly on top and have a silent waterproof backing. The best thing is they go on top of the bed and dc sleeps on top of it. Only one thing to wash when there's an accident. Works for us!!

peggyblackett · 18/08/2012 07:21

Another vote for hippychick

poppyboo · 18/08/2012 12:38

We use disposable ones to, by pamper I think, worth every penny as kids don't get at all hot or sweaty on them and they are not noisy either.

Thirstysomething · 18/08/2012 14:33

another vote for hippychick -- had other cheaper ones and they crackle and also the elastic goes at the edges of the fitted sheet. Hippychick ones don't. Guttingly I have to buy two more and they are a bit ££. Anyone from Hippychick watching - want to do a promotion with Mumsnet by any chance?? !!

frumpygrumpy · 18/08/2012 14:34

Hippychick vote from me!

Thirstysomething · 18/08/2012 14:34

now going to try the brollysheets ones though - they look good! best place to buy them anyone? Amazon, I suppose...
