Starting a 2year MA in Social Work next month and just found out I'm pregnant...I can do it can't I?

This will be DC4 the other 3 are aged 7, 6, and 5.

I will be on the masters for 2 years full time and DH was going to be working part time. However, DH could stay at home full time so childcare won't thankfully be an issue.

However, I am worried it is all going to be too much as if the pg sticks I will be due at the end of April a month before I finish my first year of the masters.

Obviously I could defer but the bursary system is being re-structured and it is widely believed that social work will lose it's bursary all together from next year which would mean I couldn't afford to train at all.

So I suspect I am going to just plough on through my first year and make a decision towards the end of the year as to whether I take a year out or not. This does mean I am going to have to make sure all my work is in early and that I make sure I do all my placement days otherwise I won't qualifiy.

Basically I'm shitting it but I really just want to enjoy it!

Definately plough on and see how it goes. I did my finals two weeks after dd1 was born and we actually proof read my dissertation on the labour ward whilst being induced. I found pregnancy very conducive to academic work. Obviously you've got the other dcs as well but if dh can take time out to be a ful time at home parent then I would say you've got things in great shape.
April babies rock btw. I have two Smile

Do you get a summer vacation?

You can do it. My mum had DC4 two weeks after she took her Bar Finals.

Just concentrate on the first year. there's no real reason why you can't do it if you've got a supportive dh.

Thank you so much for the replies.

I can do it you are right!

Also all of the work will distract me from counting the days, hours, mins before the birth.
