What does your LO do that makes your day?

I read so many threads about what our children do that we wish they didn't or they've done something that drives us mad so I thought it would be nice to have one about the things they do that make us smile/melt our hearts.

I was woken in the wee small hours by my usually very good sleeper 11 week old for a very unlike her feed. I was sitting feeding her thinking I'd done something wrong that day for her to want a night feed (irrational I know!) and got myself a bit annoyed. After feeding her I reswaddled her and she just looked at me with her big beautiful blue eyes all sparkly and gave me a gorgeous gummy grin. My heart melted there and then and the tired grumpy me was no where to be seen anymore.

Tell me what your LO had done to make your day?

DS2 is coming up on 8 weeks. He smiles loads now - huge open mouth grins. We were just chilling out earlier and I stroked his arm and face & told him how gorgeous he made lots of cute little goo and gah type noises back. It was like our first proper conversation. He is my third so moments where it's just the 2 of us are pretty rare!

My 16mo blows me a kiss when I put her down for bed-makes the tantrum over not being able to tip a bowl of blueberries over the patio all worth it.

Dd is almost 2 and when she says 'thank you mummy, so kind' it makes my day :)

AngelDog · 11/08/2012 21:44

DS (2.7) uses funnys phrase he's picked up from me and adapted for his own purpose. The other day he said, "My penis isn't available to do a wee wee." :)

fhdl34 · 12/08/2012 07:28

last night when my DD woke for her first night feed, instead of putting her straight onto the boob, I held her for a little bit. Usually she struggles and fidgets because she's so tired but she just rested her head do my shoulder having a love. To be honest, she melts my heart most days but she is only 7months. Plenty of time for her to drive me mad yet :)

NellyBluth · 12/08/2012 07:47

DD, 6mo, does a little 'yay!' noise and gives her biggest grin of the day whenever one of us goes in to the nursery first thing in the morning. It makes being woken up early entirely worth it.

For me the best bit is seeing my two (5 and nearly 3) together.

I was an only child myself and very lonely so it was important to me to have more than one. When they cuddle each other and play together it just makes me melt. They went through a phase of sleeping in the same bed, and when they wake up I always hear them ask for each other before they ask for mummy or daddy! They do fight of course but it makes me really happy that they have each other.

One night recently I was checking on them and they seemed to be pretending as DD said "please come in!" and DS said "ok!"... then I realised they were both actually asleep. Aww.

The other thing is that DS is speech delayed, so any attempt at a new word or phrase makes me well up with pride. Even though I know I'll be gutted when he stops saying his funny versions (eg Bababeeya for Caterpillar!)

My dd 16 months gives me kisses and blows raspberries when she is saying goodnight makes us all laugh out loud, it's like a tonic and i wish i could bottle it up. I hope i never forget her at this age, she is just magic! (she is awful in equal messures).

Lovely thread. My dds leave me little notes with pictures of me and how much they love me in random places around the house.

They drive me nuts and I suffer from depression so often grumpy with them but I love them so much.

Casmama · 12/08/2012 08:30

My ds came into my bed the other day and said "I love you mummy, you're so pretty" he's almost 3.

twolittlebundles · 12/08/2012 09:25

Hurt my neck last week and DD1 (4) has been 'kissing it better' for me.

I have been tired because DD2 (1) is teething, but even though she is sore with the teeth coming through and waking up at all hours, she grins at me whenever she wakes up and snuggles into me for a feed. Melts all my grumpiness away.

Great thread!

The3Bears · 12/08/2012 09:33

I am 40 weeks pregnant and ds (5) has been a little star all week helping me and asking if im okay, he just seems so much more grown up and his manners are great he held a door open at m&s for an elderly lady the other day and she said 'thank you' and he said 'your welcome' simple but it just melted my heart. Could just snuggle him all day Grin

GimmieChocolate · 12/08/2012 12:10

Aww all of these are lovely! Makes me smile reading them!

I'm sat watching my DD drift back of to sleep after waking up during her nap. We had a quick cuddle and now she's in her Moses basket thumb very slowly falling out her mouth as she falls deeper into sleep! I could watch her like this for hours! (if she would stay asleep dring the day for that long!)

I'm with OP every morning when my dd wakes up and I go and get her up she gives me the biggest, happiest smile. We have our bath together too and she loves splashing me at only 5 months old. And the fact when ever I come into the room she waves her arms and legs in excitement so cute.

matana · 12/08/2012 17:12

First thing every morning i hear DS (21 mo) 'chattering' to his teddies and singing when he wakes up. (He also makes them dance to music in the car). Then i hear him say "Mummy? Daddy?" and that's our cue to go and get him out of bed and come for a cuddle in ours. And if he goes out/ off somewhere with DH or my parents, he's always so excited when he sees me and comes running up to me with the biggest, most beautiful smile on his face. I could just eat him all up. Smile

JennerOSity · 12/08/2012 17:17

My 24mo DS and I sitting at the table eating a meal, companionable silence, then he will turn to me and wait for me to look back at him, then flutter his eyelashes at me, then smile.

He has big gorgeous eyes and the longest eyelashes so the effect is quite heart-stopping! :)

Dollybird99 · 16/08/2012 14:05

Mine (18 weeks) only has to giggle and it completely melts my heart.....

FireOverBabylon · 16/08/2012 14:21

I took DS (just 3) paddling in the stream in some woods yesterday as it was hot. I held some brambles back against the bank and put my hand out, over his shoulder (he was in front of me), so DS had something to hold on to whilst he got past. When he got past the brambles, he turned round, held out his hand and said " I help you now mummy". Wibble......

ButtonBoo · 16/08/2012 22:12

Every night before DD (10mo) goes to bed we do 'kiss kiss Daddy' then 'kiss kiss Mummy' and she opens her mouth really wide, so it completely covers your mouth and sometimes our noses. A big wet sloppy kiss. Just lovely!!!

And she's really into hiding at the moment so she pull a book, blanket or her current favourite hiding place, behind her tambourine. We 'look' for her and she's giggling away. You can totally see her but she loves the big drama and hamming it up we do. Really gets her giggling!
