Wraps for reusables: Bambinex vs Motherease

DH and I are trying to decide which brands of reusable nappies to go for (DC1 due early October), we've decided on Bambinex bamboo nappies but not sure about the wraps. Bambinex do a birth-to-potty kit which includes 3 of their own wraps and it's very good value, but I've also read very good things about Motherease wraps.

So... my question is, does anyone have any feedback on either one of these wraps, or has anyone tried both and pledged allegiance to one or the other brand for whatever reason?

Thanks.

I have some Motherease Rikkis and Airflows. I like the Airflows for night time - haven't had a leak with them - but they're a bit poufy for daytime. I'm less keen on the Rikkis - good containment, but the velcro tabs are very deep and tend to rub on DD's tummy. I prefer the shape of the Velcro tabs on Bummis (superbrite not super whisper as they have gusseted legs), Thirsties or Blueberries.

Hi Yomping I can't say from experience as I'm due in October too... But I've opted for motherease rikki wraps as I've read some fab reviews on cloth nappy websites about them... I'm sure someone else will come along with some real experience though Smile

Not happy with the little lamb ones as my 2yo has nasty scratches all over her thighs from the aplix. Only been using them a week though. Two of the four wraps do this, so possibly a bad batch. I will email the company.

I have two rikki applix and I agree about the shape of the velcro, but as long as you pay attention when sticking it down, it shouldn't rub (I think - maybe depends on the shape of the baby). Otherwise though, they are fab, very light and thin so not bulky even on a premie but haven't leaked. the gussets seem comfortable, and no marks on legs or anything. I use them with a muslin and a nappy-nippa at the moment. DS is 6 lb 2 and in the XS.

DD sleeps curled like a little ball, and will not wear pj bottoms, so this is probably something to do with it, but today she had a nappy day due to heat, and it happened again, through sitting down etc, and general play. I have always been a poppa girl before.

I'd go with poppers where possible. Aplix/velcro doesn't wear as well and is easier for a child to undo.

Thank you for these replies, it's all good food for thought!

meebies - it's not really that the Velcro is uncovered and rubbing, it's that the whole Velcro area is quite firm. It wouldnt have been an issue I don't think when she was born at 6lb 1, but 6 months later it's more of an issue for a chubbier, more mobile baby particularly when sitting up.

I'm not a fan of poppers personally as DD invariably is between sizes so it's either too tight or gapes and leaks. The only exceptions are the Real Easy nappy and the Airflow wrap.
