Is it dangerous for a baby to get cold?

My baby has a cough and runny nose and felt warm last night and our bedroom was hot and stuffy so I put her in a vest, short sleeved sleepsuit and sleeping bag. She woke up in the middle of the night crying which is unlike her and her arms felt cold. I quickly changed her into a long sleeved sleepsuit and she settled again. I'm kicking myself that I made her cold when she's poorly. Could I have made her more ill? I feel awful.

No it's not dangerous for a baby to get cold in the way you describe. It is however very dangerous for babies to overheat so it is always best to err on the side of caution when a baby has a fever to under dress and then add more layers if needed.

If your sleeping bag is a 2.5 tog and your babys room was like mine last night (about 22 degrees) they should apparently be in a short sleeve vest and the bag only (according to sleeping bag advice I've seen). I asked my hv abbout it and she said its normal and healthy for babies to have coldish hands... I don't know what I'm doing half the time and ds is 8 weeks. :)

as above, I don't think you did wrong and no you didn't make her more ill. Arms and hands often feel cold to the touch and it doesn't mean they necessarily need more layers. Feeling the back of her neck is a better indicator. It is very warm weather at the moment and overheating is a real danger. I made a sleeping bag that was just a single layer of fabric with no quilting as even the lightest tog sleeping bag can be too hot in summer, then I added a blanket over that if the night was a bit cooler.
