potty training

My twin DDs (2.5) have been using a potty in the day for the past two weeks with no accideents so far. One revels in using the potty and will happily do No1s and No.2s; the other will happily do a wee but is very reluctant to do a No.2. She cries and holds it in for as long as possible. When she's placed on the potty afer showing signs of needing to go, she will go but gets very upset. When her sister goes she makes a big show of saying how disgusting and smelly it is. She hasn't got this from us so clearly just thinks poo isn't very nice and doesn't like the feeling of going. Will she grow out of this and is there any way of encouraging her to get over the poo issue? I've tried a star chart this week and while the happy pooer is delighted by it, the reluctant one doesn't seem to care about the stars.

Sounds like they're doing well, lots of toddlers have "poo issues" and I think the only thing is to persevere and have a reward scheme (maybe she needs to see the reward not just the stars?) it'll help to see her twin doing so well and getting praise for her poo's.......best of luck!

I didn't realise poo issues were common. Don't feel quite so concerned now. Oh..i thought the stars were the reward! Doh!
Cheers for the advice Niamh Smile

My DD (2.8) is just potty training too and is having issues like your reluctant pooer. Wees are sorted, but with poos, she hops around looking agonised and sometimes wants a nappy and it is relatively rare and only after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing between the potty and the loo that she MIGHT go in one of them. I can't offer any words of wisdom atm I am afraid but you are definitely not alone....

Thanks MummyPigsFatTummy It's good to know I'm not alone in watching my poor little girl doing the 'poo dance' as I like to call it! The 'hopping around looking agonised' is a familiar sight in our house. Fingers crossed they grow out of it! Smile
