Help! Trying to use muslins as nappies

dd is 1 week old :) I'm intending to move on to reusables and have been experimenting with using muslins and a motherease rikki wrap.

However in one 24 hour period I seem to have got through my entire stock of 20 muslins and all 40 reusable wipes. Some of this is due to the nice soft cloth resulting in immediate pooing when I change her therefore requiring an immediate rechange. However, I had to go back to disposables as im still waiting for the muslins to dry.

Also I'm rather shocked at how wet they get - the whole nappy completely soaked sometimes and I worry she's sitting in a wet nappy the whole time and she'll get nappy rash.

My questions are - is she likely to become a little more regular/predictable than she is now so I can reduce nappy changes?

Does a completely wet nappy mean I've left her too long? Should I be using boosters or perhaps fleece liners? How do I stop her getting nappy rash?

Thanks!

Muslins do get wet fast, you will probably find that you have to change cloth more than disposible even when her poo etc settles (which it will). Do use fleece liners, they stay dry against her bum even when the nappy is wet.

Thanks, I'll get some liners. Glad to hear the frequent poos will settle!
