Baby's head hanging forward in car seat!?!

Help, DD is 4.5 mo & can hold her own head. We have a cabriofix car seat and a base for it in our car. Have taken out head rest thingy as she looked all squashed up & uncomfortable. She tends to let her head hang forward & I'm starting to worry this isn't safe? Not sure what to do or why this is happening? Help!

We had this issue but I found the base made the seat too upright. I took it out of the car and started just fitting the seat using the seatbelt (which is so incredibly easy that I felt v resentful that we had shelled out for the base!). If you use the belt the seat isn't as upright and I found DS' head didn't fall forward then.

Excactly what LurcherLover said. We were loaned the isofix base but if our baby falls asleep he lolls like a drunk on a train. If we use the seat on its own, it's better. Although my partner says you can adjust the isofix so the seat reclines a bit when it's on the base. I don't think the head cushion makes any difference to lolling - we've kept ours attached and our boy is 6 months. Also found the car seat is hard to remove from the base sometime, which defeats the purpose!

It used to happen to us the most when DS wasn't strapped in tight enough. Found it quite scary seeing him like that! He still does it a bit now (aged 2) if he falls asleep in weird position.

Same here ( very strong, can sit unaided, pull to seated, pull to standing 5m), with same seat. I asked the cranial osteopath about it and he said at this age it's not really a problem. I hate seeing it though. Same happened with DD in her M&P infant car seat. It doesn't happen with either seat in my parents' car though - our VW back seat is much more tilted than their Landrover, so I guess it's the make of the car.
