Does anyone use window guards (don't mean locks - like a stair gate for windows iyswim?)

I need something to make my lounge window safe - just one pane of glass between my ds' and a long drop! I can only find something on the internet for over £100 and will buy if it's the only option.

Thanks Smile

Is this what you mean - something to stop the windows being opened too far so small people will not fall out. We used the cheaper ones £2.99 on several windows in our last house (they were wooden windows/frames) - meant if small fingers opened the window they would only open a couple of inches.
Not sure if I am on the right lines though:www.babysecurity.co.uk/categories/445/Babyproofing-%26-Child-Locks/Window-Guard-Locks/

Thank you but no - but there is one on the page you linked to the 'homeguard window guard' which is £152 - cheapest on there Shock Am just worried a single pane of glass will not be strong enough if leant on and want something to act a bit like an extra barrier.

Could you move a piece of furniture in front of the window for the time being - until children a bit older? Is it not safety glass (though I have no idea how strong that would make it - just have a feeling it does have to be whacked fairly heavily to break IYSWIM)

There is a window seat right under it so we can't put anything on it very easily. If one of the children were to stand on the seat their whole body would be alongside the glass. I just want a barrier or some bars or something.

We won't be here forever as we only rent but I want to feel safe whilst we are here.

Really appreciate your help!!!

How about this - not sure if strong enough - but my SIL was considering it when she moved to a house with too wide a gap between banister spindles.

Also consider a "warning bell" kind of thing - though depends on age of DCs - you could (sounds weird maybe) feed/fit some sleigh bells on it so that should any of your DC climb up onto the window seat you will hear/know about it and you can shout blue murder for them to get down Grin . I put these on a wooden firescreen I had positioned in front of all the electrical sockets etc in the sitting room - so if DC moved it I heard. Was mainly for those early yeards/toddler stages.
