Stop start bed wetting

DS (4.5) has been dry in the day for over two years and will SOMETIMES be dry at night. He no longer wears nappies at night and we lift him at bedtime but about three nights a week he still wets the bed. I limit his fluid after five, he has two wees before bed etc.
To be honest I wold like him back in nappies as the washing is ridiculous but he gets REALLY upset if I suggest it.
So, any tips gratefully received!

Hi,

My 7 year old was like this until we went to see a specialist nurse. She said that lifting them at night (which is what we did too) means that their bladder doesn't get the chance to get stronger so the cycle continues.

What we did was made sure ds had 7 glasses of water a day (no fizzy or black current), and stopped lifting him, and within 3 weeks he was reliably going right through the night.

That's great as I was thinking that maybe it would be an idea to stop lifting him.
Thank you.

Hmm, not lifting is meaning two wet beds a night rather than one!
