How to deal with being laughed at

My toddler literally laughs in the face of discipline. He is two and if you tell him off about normal toddler naughtiness eg throwing then he laughs at my DH and I and gives us his most charming cheeky grin. No matter how we try neither of us can keep a straight face. Help! Anyone got any good tactics?

Practice your method acting. You've got to match the message with the voice and the body-language or he'll never take you seriously.

My DS (19 months) is the same so I don't tell him off, I just say "No" once and then if he does it again I move him out of the room very briefly. That works without fail. Repeating a method of discipline that clearly isn't working is a waste of time. Actions speak louder than words, especially with toddlers.

I had this with DS when he was 2 nearly 3, but much worse by the sounds of things as he would literally laugh in my face nastily not cheeky little monkey type thing. Anyway a friend advised taking toys etc away when naughty and gaining them back when good - so simple but my lively little boy returned Smile
