What is your understanding of attachment parenting?

What is and isn't AP? I'm more interested in ordinary parents take on it rather than a textbook list.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My understanding is a tendency towards natural term breastfeeding, using a sling, co sleeping, unlikely to use dummies, unlikely to routinely use babysitters for a young baby. That kind of thing really. I would say it's very common to take on some bits but not others.

In essence AP just means responding to your child`s needs. Not AP is things like leaving babies to cry deliberately, or witholding feeds or comfort.

What rubirosa said with the qualification as long as you are happy. AP parenting can feel more exhausting, so you need to make sure you strike a balance.
