What do you use for a nappy bin (re-usables)

And where did you get it from? I'm new to the re-usables and bought some Bamboozles off Ebay for DS2 and DS3 (when he is born!)

A lidded bucket from mothercare. I have 2. Also useful for pooey clothes before they go into washing machine. I have a drawstring bag as well that I put used wraps in as they don't get very dirty, so they don't fester with the inners and don't get bleached if I want to shove some napisan in the bucket

I use MonkeyFootwetbags, in various sizes - large for bathroom/downstairs loo, medium for childminder, small for trips out to shops etc.

I have a tots bots nappy bucket used wth mesh liners. The lid locks so is good for stopping curious wee ones

Thanks for your replies. Can Napisan be used on coloured nappies? I'll have a look at all your bins later when the boys are in bed. Grin

Lidded buckets, one I think came with a stash of Bumgenius, but the better ones have been the ones from the local plastic tat shops, as the lid stays on better.

All nappies, dirty wraps and any icky clothes go in there, and then the lot are chucked in the wash. Two full buckets = full machine. I love my Bamboozles - never once had a poo up the back incident with them or Mothereases, so i figure they may actually not be that much more laundry than for friends with disposables who have to change pooey outfits regularly!

Brill. I got them after reading the reviews on here and it was both sizes that were sold too. Grin its not going to be any extra washing anyway the amount that magically appears in this hoose!

I'm currently using a lidded nappy bucket (it's got a hinged lid), but it's only big enough to hold 1 day's worth of nappies and my stash is just about big enough now to go to alternate days washing. So I have an XL Monkey Foot on preorder. I think that'll be better for us anyway, as we do nappy changes in DD2's bedroom, but once she goes onto solids I imagine we'll be transferring the nappies into the bathroom anyway for poo disposal purposes Smile so I'll just hang the wetbag up in the hook in there. I'd prefer that hanging up discreetly than have the bucket sitting out where I know DD1 will get into mischief with it...

XL Close Parent wet bag holds 2 days worth of nappies, then smaller ones when i'm out and about. works great for us.

Notgrownupinmyhead · 09/07/2012 10:32

Ooh I never thought about wet bags for out and about. Ill keep the bucket upstairs out the way. Wink

I'll have a look at all the bins you use as I'll need a big one for 2 babies worth then get the mesh bags from Liz Jones new place of work Grin

Thanks again!

Yes, I've got a couple of smaller ones for put and about (bought a medium one from Tiny Nippers and then got one free from Little Lambs so keep one in each bag). And I have a small double wetbag from Monkeyfoot for wipes - I keep pre-wet ones in one side and dry ones (for drying DD2's bum or wiping DD1's hands/face) in the other side. Used ones get chucked in the bigger wetbag with the nappies.

I got a pedal bin from ASDA. The bucket comes out and is just smaller than the opening of our washing machine, so (usually) don't have to touch the nappies. It's probably a bit small for the amount of nappies a newborn goes through though. My DS is 15m and goes through about 10 nappies every 2 days (I wash every other day).
