Masters panic- help needed

At the moment, I fear that I won't complete the project on time...I had forgotten how stressful it was to be a student. I am busy gathering data for my masters project on internet usage, family cohesion and maternal stress levels. I am really enjoying being a student again after several years of being a full-time mum with part-time work commitments. My son is now 7, I am a single parent and I felt the time was right to continue my studies. I am busy writing up the introduction but desperately need more mums to fill in a 5 minute multiple-choice survey:

docs.google.com/a/my.westminster.ac.uk/spreadsheet/viewform?fromEmail=true&formkey=dGRRYS16R2UtR3R1Z0FkVEh1MDROQ0E6MQ

Do you feel that new technology has changed the way families spend time together? Is the ability to be connected online to the Internet using mobile phones and iPads good for families? Does it make mums more or less stressed to have Internet access everywhere she goes? Any thoughts, comments or ideas are very welcome as I am a bit stuck at the moment.

Thanks a million for your help. I really appreciate it. Does anyone have tips on how to study when the school holidays start? I have visions of not sleeping this summer...

Don't want to be square but you might need to check this with MNHQ. I'll look at your link now :)

MNHQ? Not sure what you mean? Is that somewhere to get study tips? How do you single mums out there handle the balance of family and study? School holidays start next week and I am trying to get as much done as I can inbetween but the deadline is fast approaching (end of August). I'm a really hands-on mum and am helping out on the class trip on Tuesday - I really enjoy spending time with my son and his friends but I seem to keep putting off focusing on my project write-up. Eeeek. Need to stop proscrastinating and focus but it is a bit hard with the constant "Mummy, look at this" "Mummy, I am hungry/thirsty" "When can we go to the park" etc etc. Heeeeeeelp!

Oh sorry. I have paid £30 and put it in the correct media section. Terribly sorry - am new to mumsnet. What a great site this is - wish I had found it when my son was a toddler as I would have found a lot of great tips here. There's nothing quite like the knowledge of mums who have been through similar things.

Any tips on how to stay focused on the end goal? I really feel panicky about getting enough done during the school holidays. Anyone have any tips on where to post links to research projects? Any good coaching 'can do' tips? Any other single mums out there who can offer advice on study/family life balance? I am really feeling rather overwhelmed at the moment.

I was really interested by this survey and I would be intrigued by the results. I work in mental health and I still don't think we have a handle on the potential positive and negative impacts of the internet on mental health and social inclusion.

Ismeyes - what a fab area to be working it but I bet it is filled with challenges as well. I am really enjoying the research part and find it fascinating how quickly fairly novel items like mobile phones with Internet connections have changed our lives for better and worse. Sure it increases eye-to-screen time but it also enables parents to work from home more easily so potentially increases quality family time spent together. As with many things, there are positives and negatives. It would be fab to extend the project and look at the mental health aspect too. Perhaps for a PhD if this masters goes well...I still need more participants and am now pledging £50 to marie curie cancer charity if I get to 150. At 105 now Getting closer to that £50 for marie curie. Just 45 more for a great cause! Thanks for your help.
