Do I just sling the whole thing in the machine?!

I'm going to give Bum Genius a try. I have dowelling stuffers, fleece liners and the nappy itself. When Abe's had a poo what do I need to do with each part? Eg do I soak it all before washing, do I rinse it all through first? Thank you!

Um that should be towelling!

I used to rinse off excess poo, then put them in the washing machine with the nappy wash, and wash them. Everything in.

Just chuck it all in the washing machine. No soaking, no rinsing.

Rinse.

Mine go into a dry bucket, then once it's full it goes straight in the machine. No rinsing - but LO's poos are very runny. When he was having solid poos due to constipation I flicked them into the loo before sticking them in the wash.

I sling the whole thing in the machine after drypailing, and without rinsing (DD2 is EBF). I do a pre-rinse before the main washing programme, though. But I do pull the inserts ou/unsnap them before putting the nappy in the bucket, though.

Thanks for the replies. So she had a big ole poo and I took the nappy apart and put everything in the machine. The only thing that came out clean was the fleece liner, everything else still covered in mustard stains! In between the elasticated legs of the nappy was the worst! I added Napisan to the wash too. So what now?!

Just chuck it on the line or on a windowsill, and the sunlight takes those poo stains out like magic

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 11/07/2012 11:06

Did you do a prerinse or prewash before the main programme? Apparently it's better to do that cold as a warm prewash can set the stains.

LaTristesse · 11/07/2012 12:46

Mm, never done a prewash in my life (reaches for washing machine manual!)

And it will be magic CMOT, if it gets these out, you'd think they were brown fabric, looks like some Colemans has burst in the wash!

Yeah you need to do a cold rinse first, then a normal wash. Choose the 'aqua plus'/'extra water' setting if your machine has one, as modern machines often don't use enough water to get nappies really clean otherwise.

And any remaining staining will vanish in the sunlight, its true. That is if there ever is any sunlight Hmm Angry

What is this 'sunlight' of which you speak?
